Reinvent Learning on Purpose
Purpose of the Challenge
The primary purpose of this challenge is to offer students meaningful opportunities to learn how to become confident and creative problem-solvers, act as purposeful makers, take ownership of their learning, and make mindful choices.
January through Saturday, March 5
This year’s DLN creative problem-solving adventure has invited Kansas City middle and high school students to develop critical and innovative thinking skills as they tackle the wicked challenge to Reinvent Learning on Purpose:
What if we were to reinvent learning on purpose
to ensure all people have access to public spaces
where they can freely engage
in meaningful content and effective interactions regardless of age, gender, learning need,
ethnicity, geographic location, or social construct?
Kansas City area middle and high school teachers alongside design educators and professionals, students from Blue Valley North High School, Center for Advanced Professional Studies, Paseo Academy of Fine and Performing Arts, and Lincoln College Preparatory Academy grappled with the Reinvent Learning on Purpose Challenge – focused on Steps 1 and 2.
February 4, 2016
All students gathered alongside their teachers and creative mentors at Paseo Academy for an daylong Midpoint Workshop to complete Step 3 of the challenge.
Saturday, March 5, 2016
Students will gather alongside educators, creatives, and community members at the KCAI Hosted Culminating Event when learners complete Step 4 and Step 5.
